Winter Walking in Seefeld Austria

Winter Walking

Walking is a favourite winter pastime in Seefeld. Visitors are able to enjoy more than 140km of cleared walking trails, whether as a 'day off' for skiers, a change for cross-country enthusiasts, or as part of a specific winter walking holiday for committed hikers.

The trails, varying from easy through to quite demanding, are prepared from 05.00 each morning by the hardworking staff of the tourist office. Almost all of the trails are suitable for pushchairs and there are plenty of stops at huts to be enjoyed. There are various means to transport to get visitors to or from some of the more remote walks: either the free village shuttle, the Wildmoos route or the regional bus service to other villages on the plateau.

Snowshoe Walking

Snowshoe walking has become ever more popular over the last years. With this in mind the Olympiaregion has created 7 marked snowshoe trails. The snowshoes themselves can be hired at various sports shops (from Euro 10,--). Guided snowshoe walks are available from Euro 25,-- including equipment.

Try this natural experience in the deep snows of our mountain landscape.

Tobogganing

Tobogganing isn't just fun for kids - adults can also enjoy the excitement of speed and the cold wind on one's face. Take a winter walk up to a mountain hut and descend with a toboggan. Every village in the Olympiaregion has mountain huts where it is possible to rent toboggans. For those who would prefer not to walk up there is also the Kreithlift over in Leutasch. Some toboggans are available free in the hotel (although only a limited quantity) but they can also be hired in a sports shop (from Euro 5,-- per day). Smaller tobogganins slopes for children are only ca. 5 – 10 minutes on foot from the hotel.
